Healthy skin contains important
components that keep it supple and looking young. One of these
components is Hyaluronic acid, a natural sugar found in all living
cells that help to maintain skin volume by attracting and binding
over 1,000 times its weight in water. Hyaluronic acid provides
volume to the skin, lubricates the joints and gives the eye its
shape.
With time, sunlight and other
factors, the hyaluronic acid in your skin diminishes and your skin
loses volume, giving way to unwelcomed lines and the appearance of
wrinkles. Until now, it has not been possible to medically use
hyaluronic acid in the skin without using a product of animal
origin. Now there are FDA-approved dermal fillers available for
treatment of wrinkles and folds. |
| |
|
All products are based on a hyaluronic acid gel that is injected
into the skin in order to lift up wrinkles or add volume to the
lips. |
| |
|
Besides Hyaluronic acid, the most
common filler we use is a product containing calcium hydroxyappetite.
This calcium-based product called Radiesse has been successfully
used in over 30,000 cases with excellent long-term results. It is an
excellent choice for improving lines around the mouth, and laugh
lines as well as augmenting cheeks. Our staff can provide additional
information on the best use of Radiesse for you. |

Common areas to treat are the glabellar lines (between the
eyebrows), the nasolabial folds (from the wing of the nose to the
angle of the mouth) and the wrinkles around the lips and eyes, but
other sites can also be treated as well. |
| |
|
Dermal Filler treatments are a very quick and easy process that
involve using small needle injections into the treated areas. Since
no pre-test is required, the treatment can be carried out
immediately and takes approximately 15 to 30 minutes. The results is
instant with immediate improvement in fine lines, wrinkles and
folds. |

Fillers
can be used in the lips to provide a fuller effect as well as to
accentuate the borders and the region above the upper lip to add to
the beauty. |

The level of discomfort varies
depending on the individual, depending on how sensitive to pain you
are. Local anesthesia is generally used to allow the procedure to be
virtually painless once the numbing medicine takes effect. |
| |
|
This varies with the individual. It
depends on multiple factors including the structure of the skin,
lifestyle and age as well as on the amount of filler used. Most
patients choose to have touchup treatments done within 6 to 12
months of the original treatment to maintain their look. For lip
augmentation, new treatment is normally needed after about 4 to 8
months. If you choose not to do touch-up treatments, the correction
will gradually disappear until your skin looks just as it did before
the treatment. |
